Event Type: Fitness & Health Age Group(s): Adult Date: 1/28/2023 Start Time: 12:00 PM End Time: 2:00 PM Description: Traumatic injuries occur, and the bleeding that results from the injuries can cost lives. This training is to teach the community how to stop bleeding from traumatic injuries until professional help arrives. These life-saving skills will enable the participants to learn how to pack wounds, apply pressure, and tourniquet. The American College of Surgeons developed this course. The participants will watch a video and practice hands-on skills. A certificate of completion will be emailed to participants.
Library: Rostraver Public LibraryChristy Barnhart is an Associate Professor in the School of Nursing at West Virginia University. She was appointed by the Dean of the School of Nursing to the position of Director of Nursing Simulation. In this role, Christy trains nursing faculty on skills/simulation lab equipment. She teaches students about clinical judgment and thinking in a controlled environment that is safe for learning how to care for patients. Christy teaches all students in the Health Sciences at WVU (Schools of Nursing, Medicine, Pharmacy, PT, OT, etc...) the American Heart Association Classes. She is offering BLS refresher and BLS initial classes in her residential area, which is in the Belle Vernon Area, on 1 Saturday every month at the Public Library in Rostraver.
